Its not so difficult to play this little ditty by the Velvet Underground (written by Lou Reed at the age of 19). You've listened to it a thousand times before, but you might need to listen to it again, closely. The slow, soft parts go like this:
strum the D chord, pluck string (3) (2) (1)(2)(1)
strum the G chord, pluck string (3) (2) (1) (2)
strum the D chord, pluck string (3) (2) (1 with the pinky on the 3rd fret and then pull off)(2)(1)
strum the G chord, pluck string (3) (2) (1)(2)(1)
